Typical responsibilities include managing Linux systems in co-lo facilities, tuning kernel and network parameters for latency, building monitoring and alerting systems, and automating infrastructure deployment.
Strong Linux systems knowledge is essential. Experience with kernel-bypass networking (DPDK, Solarflare/OpenOnload), NUMA-aware programming, and real-time systems is highly valued. Many firms also look for experience with container orchestration and cloud infrastructure.
